The Baltimore Ravens are a professional American football franchise based in Baltimore, Maryland. They are officially a new franchise that originated in 1995 after Art Modell, then owner of the Cleveland Browns, announced his intention to relocate the team to Baltimore. Modell's team was named the "Baltimore Ravens" after a fan contest and began play in the 1996 season. The Ravens beat the New York Giants in Super Bowl XXXV at the end of the 2000 season and remains their best season. They are currently one of only four teams to win in their only Super Bowl appearance.
Michael Jerome Oher, born May 28, 1986, plays for the Ravens. He played college football at the University of Mississippi for the Rebels. His life through his first year of college is one of the subjects of Michael Lewis's book, The Blind Side and the subject of the 2009 film The Blind Side.
